Persistent Pain Education Program

What we know is that people who understand the science of their pain have better control over their pain experience, putting them back into the driver’s seat of their lives. Our program is designed to be customized to your needs with 6 individualized one-on-one sessions. Our goal is to make you the pain expert, unlocking your brain as a secret weapon in treating your pain.

Haven Halk, Family Nurse Practitioner, has been trained through Evidence in Motion in the current science of persistent and chronic pain, Pain Neuroscience. This is a growing field and utilizing Pain Neuroscience in an educational format has been used by physical therapists and other medical professionals since 2002 in Australia, the UK and here in the US in treating people with persistent pain. Pain Neuroscience Education opens exciting avenues in addressing an age-old problem – pain that lasts past normal healing time.

Our program is ideal for those who have experienced pain for more than 6 months, are motivated to regain control for their lives, and are willing to learn with curiosity in the process! Your first session will be an opportunity to share your story of your pain experience & what has and has not helped since it first began. The next 5 sessions you and Haven will co-create a set of tools that you can have on hand to treat your pain.

Chronic pain is complicated & no one medical professional or modality has the silver bullet to treat ongoing pain. The American Academy of Family Physicians recommends that pain be treated using diverse team of professionals who offer varied treatment options. For this reason, we will work along side your medical team already helping manage your pain to help create a comprehensive treatment plan that works for you.

Carbon Medical’s Persistent Pain Education Program is not a pain management clinic. We will not be taking over prescribing of your pain medication from the medical provider currently treating you pain.
